Canada's Capital Cities plus Niagara Falls

Tauck's eastern Canada, featuring Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto and Niagara Falls vacation explores four eastern Canadian cities with distinctly diverse cultural backgrounds.
Stay at premier Fairmont hotels, each a historic landmark in itself, along with visits to Quebec's Montmorency Falls and Ontario's Niagara Falls. Special experiences include a cruise on the St. Lawrence River among the Thousand Islands; and a close-up look at one of the world's most iconic sites, the thundering waters of Niagara Falls, on a trip aboard the nostalgic Maid of the Mist.
Day 1: Welcome to Toronto
Tauck’s Canadian capitals and Niagara Falls vacation begins at 5:30 PM at The Fairmont Royal York. A transfer from Toronto International Airport to The Fairmont Royal York upon arrival is included. Join us for a private, after-hours tour, welcome reception and dinner at the amazing Royal Ontario Museum, a special experience for Tauck guests only!

Day 2: Toronto sights
Begin today’s sightseeing at the CN Tower, one of the tallest freestanding structures on Earth, with a self-guided tour before viewing other Toronto landmarks such as Harbourfront Centre, the University of Toronto, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Eaton Centre and Dundas Square with time to do a little exploring in the Distillery District, with its brick-lined streets and restored Victorian industrial buildings now housing galleries, boutiques and cafés. The rest of the day is free to discover Toronto as you please. Dine at your leisure at your hotel this evening.

The hooded raincoat you’ll put on when you climb aboard will help to keep you dry during your own up-close-and-personal encounter. Said by some to be the loveliest town in Ontario, discover Niagara-on-the-Lake after an ice wine tasting at a local winery.

Day 4: Thousand Islands Cruising
The First Nations people of this area where Ontario and the United States meet called this the “Garden of the Great Spirit” and it won’t be hard to understand why as you cruise through the Thousand Islands today. Lush woods and sparkling water surround you as you glide past both humble and grand summer homes on the islands. Continue on to Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, for a two-night stay at the impressive Fairmont Château Laurier, which may remind you of a grand French château. Dine at your leisure at Wilfrid’s Restaurant at the hotel.

With its stately architecture, Ottawa looks every bit as a nation’s capital city should look. A guided tour takes in Canada’s Parliament and the House of Commons before a guided visit to the Museum of Civilization, showcasing Canada’s cultural heritage from the ancient past to the present day. The afternoon and evening are free to spend as you choose in this splendid city.

Day 7: Montreal with an epicurean twist
An array of tastes and treats await you on a walking tour of Old Montreal, the city’s historic heart once surrounded by walls, stopping along the way to sample some of its distinctive local flavors. The day ends with dinner at a popular local restaurant to cap a day of epicurean pleasures.
