- Day 2: Drive to the roadhead, trek to Ngadi
- We set off after breakfast for the drive westwards to the start of the trek accompanied by our trek crew. After 3 hours or so, we arrive at the town of Mugling and stop for an early lunch at a roadside restaurant.Soon after leaving Mugling, we reach the small town of Dumre, beside the Marsyangdi River. Here, we turn north on the road which is being slowly driven up to Bulbule and beyond. After a long day on the road we are finally at Syange and the start of 10 days superb trekking. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (B,L,D)
- Day 3: Trek to Dharapani
- We begin the Annapurna Circuit with a 300m. ascent to the village of Jagat (1314m. / 4311ft.) and then continue to Chamje where we then descend and cross the river, entering the Buddhist region of Manang at Tal. We cross the river again to reach Dharapani (1943m. / 6375ft.). (B,L,D)
- Day 4: Trek to Chame
- The valley now turns towards the west, as we pass through the interesting Buddhist village of Bagar Chap. Trekking westwards now, with Manaslu visible behind us, and Annapurna 2 occasionally in sight to the south, we pass through several sections of pine forest with many stone steps. There are isolated lodges and hamlets en route to our overnight stopping place at Chame (2713m. / 8900ft.). This is the administrative centre of this region, with shops, a bank and a school, as well as views of the Annapurnas. (B,L,D)
- Day 5: Cross the river several times, to Pisang
- We cross the Marsyangdi several times today, in a steep gorge section of the river. The path is sometimes built into the cliffside on wooden piers.Climbing through a forested ridge beyond Buradhan, we reach a more open valley with some pasture, where we cross the river to its north bank, to reach the terraced fields of Upper Pisang. We have great views of the north side of Annapurna 2. We overnight in a lodge in Pisang. 4-5 hours walking. Altitude 3150m. / 10,335ft. (B,L,D)
- Day 6: Two options to Manang
- There are two options for today’s walk. Highly recommended is a high-level trail, which passes through the villages of Ghyaru and Ngawal. The views of the Annapurnas from this trail are simply stunning and together with the fascinating houses and gompas of these two villages, make the extra effort of this trail very worthwhile. We rejoin the main trail just before Braga where there is another very interesting gompa and from here it is a further hour to our overnight base at Manang (3520m. / 11,550ft.). It is a walk of 6 - 7 hours to the lodge in Manang by this trail and for anyone wanting a shorter day it will be possible to follow the porters on the broad main trail which takes around 4 hours. (B,L,D)
- Day 7: A rest day in Manang
- Manang is a large village inhabited by Tibetan people. We spend a rest day at Manang, to help with our acclimatisation, prior to crossing the Thorung La. There is plenty to see and do around Manang, which is the last sizeable village on this side of the pass.We may choose to take an acclimatisation walk up to the village of Khongsar, which lies on the route up to Tilicho Lake. There are also excellent views to be had by climbing onto the ridge to the north of Manang, or by continuing up the main trail as far as Tinke, from where the view back down-valley is most impressive. (B,L,D)
- Day 8: Trek to Leder
- Now that we are moving above 4000 metres we must ascend very slowly and this gives us an easy day of only 3 or 4 hours as we continue toward the Thorung La. Climbing out of the Marsyangdi Valley, there are great views of Manaslu, the Annapurnas and Tilicho Peak as we head northwest up the Jarsang Khola, through scrubby juniper and across alpine meadows up to the settlement of Leder (4090m. / 13,420ft.). (B,L,D)
- Day 9: To the foot of the Thorung La
- We continue on the east bank of the Jarsang stream to a covered bridge, beyond which a steep trail climbs across scree to reach the tea-houses at Thorong Phedi (a name which means ‘‘bottom of the Thorong La’’). Altitude 4420m. / 14,500ft. (B,L,D)
- Day 10: Cross the Thorung La to Muktinath
- An early start for the hardest day’s climb of the trip. Since this trail has been used for generations, it is well defined. Steep to begin with, it eases off, passing a number of glacial lakes on the slow climb to the cairns and prayer flags at the pass (5416m. / 17,770ft.). At this altitude, this is a hard climb. There are tremendous views in both directions. In addition to the mountains that have been with us for the last few days, we can see the brown and red hills of Mustang to the north-west and the valley of the Kali Gandaki below us. Descending from the pass is quite straightforward, but hard on the knees. It is three hours (and 1500m. / 5,000ft.) down to the sacred village of Muktinath, with excellent views of Dhaulagiri 1, Tukuche Peak and Nilgiri. (B,L,D)420m. / 14,500ft. (B,L,D)
- Day 11: Descend to Marpha
- It is 3 hours and a further 1200m. / 4,000ft of (more gentle) descent to the valley floor, where we can celebrate with a cold drink at the tea-house at Eklai Bhatti on the flood plain of the Kali Gandaki. We then continue for three hours along the dry stony bed of the Kali Gandaki which leads via the airstrip town of Jomsom to Marpha, which is a little gem, with whitewashed houses, paved streets and numerous well-kept lodges and Tibetan craft shops. This pretty village is, in fact, a Tibetan refugee resettlement centre. There are a number of interesting gompas on the hill above the village and splendid views of Tilicho Peak and Dhaulagiri. (B,L,D)
- Day 12: Contingency day and on to Jomsom
- This is a contingency day in case of delays to the trekking schedule. If we have not used this day we will have a morning of relaxation. In the afternoon we make the short walk back to the busy airport town of Jomsom. Lodge. (B,L,D)
- Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu
- We take the short and exciting internal flight to Pokhara and then catch an onward flight to Kathmandu. Check in to the group hotel. (B,L,D)
- Day 14: A full day to explore Kathmandu
- A free day in Kathmandu for independent sightseeing and shopping. Overnight at the group hotel. (B,L,D)

It was the best trek I have been on so far as regards views, weather, support from the crew and leader and my own health. I would certainly recommend this trip to family and friends.

80%Gopal is an exceptional trip leader. He provided excellent leadership, patience and humor during our trip. We were offered opportunities and experiences that Gopal made happen that other groups did not seem to have available. For instance, we were able to enter Nepali homes due to Gopal's communication skills.
