As one of the most atmospheric and striking cities in Italy, Florence is as rich in history and culture as it is in spirit and attraction. Famous as one of the world's centres of art, with galleries displaying distinguished works of Botticelli, de Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo, Florence itself is a work of art, with intricately carved cathedrals, ornate plazas and majestic buildings whose architecture is enough to take the breath away.

In Ravenna, we find a veritable treasure-trove of Byzantine monuments and we head to Vicenza via Verona, the setting of Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' and one of Italy's most attractive towns, with its rose-coloured buildings and pink marble Roman structures. We stop in at small villages with locals all too willing to demonstrate the legendary Italian hospitality and end our Italy leg of the tour in Venice, truly one of the world's greatest cities.

From one capital to another, we travel across the border into Slovenia and head for Ljubljana via the stunning sceneries of Bled, which is situated on the fringes of an emerald-green glacial lake. Along with touring Ljubljana's 400-year-old castle, the cathedral and the museums that give a comprehensive overview of the city's history, we spend time perusing the stalls in the local outdoor markets.

The Plitvice Lakes is one of nature's most serene and beautiful sites, with 16 crystal-clear lakes converging into a series of cascading waterfalls, all with lush forest boasting eye-catching flora and teeming fauna as a backdrop. Dubrovnik, 'the pearl of the Adriatic' serves as the perfect finale to our adventure.
