Iguassu Falls Post-Cruise Extension M/S Expedition

Wider than Victoria Falls and taller than Niagara, Iguassu Falls leaves an impression that is beyond compare.
Wider than Victoria Falls and taller than Niagara, Iguassu Falls leaves an impression that is beyond compare. Exclusively available to those travelling aboard the M/S Expedition, this five-day pre-cruise extension will bring you into the heart of the jungle and reveal the wonder of Iguassu.
Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires
On arrival into Buenos Aires (AEP or EZE) airport you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. The day is free for you to spend at your leisure.

In the evening you will have a welcome meeting in your hotel. Look out for signage or ask the Receptionist for more details about your welcome meeting on Day 1.

The capital city of Argentina, Buenos Aires is the ultimate cosmopolitan city. Travellers find that it has more in common with the cities of Europe than the rest of South America. Nearly 40 per cent of Argentina's 33 million citizens live in Greater Buenos Aires, and the Porteños are justifiably proud of their home. The city is comprised of a number of distinct neighbourhoods, some of which have become top tourist draws. For many, the highlight of their time in the capital is a visit to San Telmo for the weekend antiques market and street artistís displays.
Lodging Unique Madero Hotel
Description A unique Buenos Aires hotel for unique guests, the boutique Hotel Madero situated in the exclusive and modern Puerto Madero area offers chic and contemporary comfort with a distinctive sense of style. Hotel Madero is a truly different boutique hotel in Buenos Aires. The environment is warm and welcoming. The service is friendly yet top-notch. The décor is artistic and urbane. And the vibe is ultra-cool.
Day 2: Iguassu Falls (B)
Depart in the morning for your included flight from Buenos Aires to Iguassu.

The torrential Iguassu River crosses the State of Paraná in Southern Brazil from East to West. A few kilometres before its junction with the Paraná River it forms one of the most splendorous natural beauties of the world: Iguassu Falls. Over 2.7km long and an average flow of 1.750 m3/s, this wonder is located in a very special place: the contrast between the green of the vegetation and the dark colour of the basalt rocks with whirring waters plunging from a 72m high cliff is magical. At Iguassu there are 275 falls in all, some over 80m (267 ft) in height, making these cataracts wider than Victoria Falls and higher than Niagara! It should come as no surprise that UNESCO declared the region a World Heritage Site in 1986.

Originally “discovered” in 1541 by the Spaniard Juan Alvar Nuñez, he named the falls Saltos de Santa María. The name we use today means “great waters” in the Tupi-Guarani tongue. The falls are protected by two National Parks—one in Brazil and another in Argentina. Tours utilise trails and catwalks adapted to the landscape of the area, and walking is easy for all ages; guided tours of the complex are available several times a day. The best time of the year to visit is from August to November, as during the rainy season from May to July flooding will likely prevent closer viewing from the catwalks.

In the afternoon enjoy a half-day excursion to National Park Iguaçu on the Brazilian side. Enjoy the panoramic view of the falls, along with a possible visit to a bird park filled with beautifully coloured local wildlife. Helicopter rides are available for a birds-eye view of the falls. Please note that if you have flight delays this included activity can be flexible and adjusted to another day.

Return to the hotel in the afternoon for some time to relax. Overnight in Iguassu Falls.
Day 3: Iguassu Falls (B)
Today we begin our visit of the National Park Iguazú on the Argentinean side. Here we are able to get close enough to almost reach out and touch the waters from the many jungle walkways. If that isn't close enough there is also the option of a Zodiac cruise into the heart of the falls, an exhilarating optional boat tour at the bottom of the falls. A short ride on a safari vehicle is an optional activity worth considering. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Overnight in Iguassu Falls.
Day 4: Buenos Aires (B)
Today you depart Iguassu for your included flight back to Buenos Aires. Free evening to embrace the Argentine way of life, explore or settle your weary feet and enjoy a drink in one of the many sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Overnight in Buenos Aires.
Day 5: Depart Buenos Aires (B)
Today is a departure day, and no activities are planned.
