Hit the highlights of Jordan in this action-packed four days. View spectacular Wadi Rum by 4x4 before spending a night in the desert in the company of local Bedouin. Explore the magnificent red rock city of Petra and be amazed by the well-preserved Roman city of Jerash. Jordan has so much to offer!
Day 1: Amman
You'll be picked up from your hotel in Amman around noon and we start our day trip to Jerash, a fascinating city. The drive will take you less than an hour, but will transport you 2000 years back in time. Jerash, located 48 km north of Amman and nestled in a quiet valley among the mountains of Gilead, is the grandeur of Imperial Rome being one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the World outside Italy. To this day, its paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theaters, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates remain in exceptional condition.

*If you are arriving by flight on Day 1 of the tour (i.e. you are not being picked up from your Amman hotel on Day 1), the latest arrival flight time into Amman is 8:00am. Upon arrival at the airport, our representative will meet and assist you through the customs and immigration procedures.
Day 2: Wadi Rum (B, D)
Blessed with some of the most spectacular desert scenery you will ever see, Wadi Rum is home to the nomadic Bedouin people. We head deep into the desert by 4x4 and arriving at our tented home for the night where we enjoy a traditional meal and learn more about this ancient culture.
Our camp at Wadi Rum is simple but comfortable. We sleep  on beds in one long goat hair tent which is divided by blankets into twin share “rooms” for  privacy.  A bottom sheet and blanket is provided but most people prefer to bring along a  travel sleep sheet.

Bathroom facilities are shared and unisex and located around 20 metres from the camp. Although the way is lit by lanterns, it is a good idea to have a torch/flashlight with you .There is a large, central tent which is traditionally decorated and perfect for relaxing or escaping the cold nights in winter. Our dinner is cooked in traditional fashion, with the meat and vegetables being cooked under the ground.
Soft drinks and water  are available for purchase. Please note, due to religious reasons, no alcohol is permitted at the camp.

We spend the evening sitting under the stars, around the fire, listening to stories from our Bedouin hosts. If we are really lucky they may bring the drums out.

Approximate travel time: Amman to Wadi Rum, 5 hours.
Day 3: Petra (B)
After breakfast at our desert camp, we depart for a full day tour of the Red Rock city of Petra.

Upon arrival you will enter the siq which is the natural canyon forming the entrance way into Petra. You will never forget your first sight of the spectacular.  Your guide will give a brief history of the city, one of the greatest tourist attractions in the Middle East. the Nabateans carved this capital of theirs from the living rock of the  surrounding mountains in Petra. Among other monuments for the visitors today are Pharaoh's Castle, the Triumphal arch, the Amphitheater and Monastery.

After our tour, we head back to the hotel where we over night.

Petra is considered the most famous and attractive sites in Jordan. It is best known as the Nabatean City, which the inhabitants carved into the soft Nubian sandstone more than 2,000 years ago. It was rediscovered in 1812 by Swiss explorer J. Burckhardt.  Most scholars accept that the Nabateans were semi nomadic people from the northern Arabian Peninsula who migrated to southern  Jordan in the sixth and fifth centuries BC. By the fourth century BC, Petra was establishing itself as a center of Nabataean culture. It was a combination commercial necropolis of people whose economic base in southern Jordan relied on the income from regional trade in bitumen, aromatics, salt, copper and agricultural goods.

Petra seems to have declined gradually since the fourth century AD, After several earthquakes between sixth and eighth centuries AD. Petra was reduced to a shadow of its former urban splendor.

Approximate travel time: Wadi Rum to Petra, 1.5 hours.
Day 4: Amman, Departure (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive via the desert highway  for 4 hours to Amman where your tour ends on arrival. You will be transferred either to the airport or your hotel in the city (overnight not included).

*If you are planning to depart Amman on the this final day, please do not take a flight that departs earlier than 2:00pm.
