Charlotte, North Carolina’s largest city, is an incredible place with beautiful architecture, fascinating history and great eats. This Charlotte tour is an opportunity to engage all of your senses and get an insider’s look at Charlotte – from sprawling parks and tree-lined streets to cornbread and chicken wings – without getting footsore. Do it on a bike!
Itinerary:
There are so many aspects of Charlotte to “ooh” and “ahh” over as we cycle through its sprawling parks, fragrant gardens and historic neighbour-hoods on this Charlotte bike tour. Weaving through some of the most interesting spots in and around the “Queen City” and indulging in tasty local fare, all your senses will be engaged as we follow Charlotte’s path of progress from pre-revolutionary Native American trading paths to today’s culturally rich Southern bank town.
On this Charlotte day tour you'll hear the story of how Charlotte came to be, while riding by the city’s oldest homes and newest postmodern skyscrapers before stopping at a park across from the new Wells Fargo Cultural Campus. While in the uptown area we will taste an unforgettable Charlotte specialty – fresh, warm cornbread with honey butter. From the park, you will see the outside of Uptown Charlotte’s newest museums, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Mint Museum, and Gantt Center.
Head to South End and learn about Charlotte’s first industrial district (an area that was recently named the third best comeback neighbourhood of the southeast). After taking in the sights of South End, we stop at nearby Latta Park, our city’s most historically significant outdoor space. Taste delicious fried chicken wings from South End’s legendary establishment, Price’s Chicken Coop, a hometown indulgence for over 50 years.
We will lick our fingers as we cycle along the tree-lined streets and learn the history of Dilworth Charlotte’s first suburban neighborhoods. Marvel at the large homes with exceptionally beautiful yards, some dating from the early 1900s. Our final two destinations will be a surprise! We have so many restaurants to choose from you won’t be sorry.
