Visit the famous Panama Canal, gain an understanding of how this man-made marvel works. Admire the view of Panama City from Cerro Ancon. Drop in on an artisan market in search of handmade crafts. Visit Amandor to visit a Smithsonian owned nature trail and finish the day exploring Casco Viejo, a World Heritage Listed section of Panama City.
Itinerary:
The adventure begins at your hotel where we will embark on the Miraflores locks in the Panama Canal and view the ships on the journey through the canal adjoining the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean. Here you will be able to learn more of about the Panama Canal.
Continue onward, well upwards to Cerro Ancon and take in the panoramic views of Panama City and the Canal. On the high ground there waves a Panamanian flag about the size of a basketball court!
The next stop is at a local Artisan Market to see crafts handmade by locals and pick up a bargain to take home.
Once we have viewed and purchased as many crafts as one would like, the adventure continues and we head to Amador to take in “The bridge of the America’s” before enjoying a short nature walk on the Smithsonian owned Punta Culebra.
The rest of the day we will enjoy wandering through the old historic town of Casco Viejo, wandering it’s streets you can’t help but feel the history and culture of this World Heritage listed site.
