Tom, the tour guide was very cordial and knew each establishment's owner by first name. The behind the scenes tour gave us a better understanding of the time it takes to make great food. His history of the area was an added bonus to the wonderful food selections we thoroughly enjoyed. Money well spent.

Of course if you visit Chinatown you will want to taste the food and this tour is helpful because they know where to go for great food. It is a bit pricey but worth it because you also learn about the neighborhood and not only do you taste the food but you also see other interesting places in the neighborhood. All in all, it's a great way to experience the real Chinatown.

On a recent trip to San Francisco, we had the pleasure of taking a walking tour with Local Taste of the City Tours. It was awesome to visit the 1st Catholic Cathedral in CA, eat delicious dim sum at the oldest bakery in Chinatown, visit a Buddhist temple with beautiful flowers, fruits, and incense, try out musical instruments from Asia and Africa, make our own fortune cookies at a fortune cookie factory, and taste an amazing variety of teas in a tea room. We had a wonderful tour guide, Tom Medlin, who gave us lots of good history, humor, and always kept our tea cups filled! This is the BEST way to experience Chinatown and not to be missed!
