Day 1: Seattle/Kamloops
Welcome to North America!

There will be an important welcome meeting at 7:30 am this morning. Meet in the hotel reception/lobby. We'll be collecting your insurance details, kitty and next of kin information at this meeting so please ensure you have all details on hand to provide to your leader. You should have packed your bags and have eaten breakfast so that you are fresh and ready to start the journey.

As there's a great deal to do in Seattle we recommend arriving a few days early to make the most of this exciting city. If you need help booking extra accommodation, our reservations team will be able to assist. Consider doing our one day sightseeing tour of Seattle (see www.urbanadventures.com).

Departing the Emerald City we have an incredibly scenic first day's drive. After crossing the Canadian border it's all national forest and mountain passes, with hardly a town, house or street in sight, before arriving in the beautiful lakeside city of Kamloops, the gateway to the Rockies.
Kamloops, which means 'meeting of the waters', is situated at the confluence of the two branches of the Thompson River, near Kamloops Lake.
Days 2-3: Yoho National Park
See towering Mount Revelstoke and travel through Glacier National Park along the route to Yoho (a native word meaning awe). Our home for the next two nights is the small town of Golden in the valley of the Kicking Horse River. Experience the raging Kicking Horse firsthand with an exhilarating half-day white-water raft ride, or choose to canoe and hike at magnificent Emerald Lake. The challenging trails overlooking the Takakkaw Falls are also an excellent option!

Optional Activities
  • Kicking Horse rafting (half day), Golden - CAD69.00
Days 4-5: Banff National Park
With photo opportunities at every turn, we head to Banff via Lake Louise. Canoe the Bow River, bike or hike the many trails or just relax in Banff's natural hot spring. Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park. Its valleys and mountain chains were formed 75 million years ago.

Optional Activities
  • Athabasca Glacier tour, Banff National Park - CAD52.45
Days 6-7: Icefields Parkway/Jasper National Park
Take a scenic drive through breathtaking mountain scenery on the famous Icefields Parkway which connects Jasper and Banff National Parks (300 km). There's no rush and we stop at many viewpoints and waterfalls along the way, including Athabasca Glacier and Lake Louise.

Next is Jasper National Park: start by taking the cable car to Whistler Mountain for a bird's eye view of this splendid park. The next day offers mountain biking or hiking amidst glorious lakeside scenery, or visit Mt. Edith Cavell for tremendous views of Angel Glacier and various hiking options.

Optional Activities
  • Bike rental, Jasper - CAD30.00
  • Jasper Tramway, Jasper - CAD30.00
Day 8: Caribou Country
Mt. Robson, the highest peak (3954m) in the Canadian Rockies, offers a great photo op, before arriving at our hotel in Caribou Country. Kick back and enjoy the swimming pool or hop onto a horse for an optional afternoon ride. After dinner, a relaxing whirlpool and sauna await.

Optional Activities
  • Horseback ride (1.5 hrs), Wells Gray Provincial Park - CAD50.40
Day 9: Vancouver
Crossing the Camelsfoot Range, we parallel the Fraser River during a captivating drive, to Vancouver, Canada's most spectacularly situated city.

The largest city in western Canada, Vancouver is famous for its historic Gastown, Chinatown and the popular Stanley Park. The city's coastal setting is incredibly beautiful, bordering an ocean harbour to the north and a wide-reaching river to the south. The majestic Rockies, often snow capped, provide the eastern horizon.

A short tour encompassing Chinatown and Stanley Park's totem poles, leaves the afternoon free for exploration. Our day climaxes with an optional dinner in historic Gastown, the perfect setting for reliving the excitement we have shared.

Included Activities
  • Vancouver City Tour
Day 10: Seattle
Drive to Seattle (240 km, approx 2.5 hrs). There is time this afternoon to visit Seattle's famous Pike Place Market, sample America's best coffee or micro-beers, explore the waterfronts, browse fine bookstores or ride to the top of Seattle's famous Space Needle... a fitting end to an impressive, activity-filled tour. Tour ends at approx 17:00 hrs in Seattle on day 10.
