Where to Meet to Start your Tour
Our Downtown DC location is just a block and a half from the National Mall, at the rear plaza of The Old Post Office Pavilion in the historic Penn Quarter. Look for our blue and yellow kiosk on 12th Street, NW between Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenues. Take the metro to the Federal Triangle station (orange and blue lines) from the escalator, take a U-turn and cross over 12th St at the light.

Having never been to Washington, D.C. before, I wasn't really sure where to start with my site-seeing. Our first night here we took this tour and I was so happy we did. Our tour guide, Seth, was a fountain of great information about every site we went to. The tour took us through much of Downtown D.C. and past all the important landmarks. This helped us plan for the rest of our trip. We knew what to see, where is was, and what to look for when we went back. The ride was easy and the tour included a water and a snack. I would highly recommend this tour to those who are unfamiliar with the city and need some help planning their trip.

This is a great way to see the "core" monuments around the mall. The Sites at Nite tour is a good choice if you are working during the day. Sometimes it is difficult to find touristy stuff to do in the evenings, if you have to work or train during the week day.
Some of the most fun was meeting the other riders. In our group there was three from Ireland, two Brits and one Australian plus two plain-old Americans.
Our guide had obviously learned his "script" but didn't give anything more than that, even though he was studying history at a local university. I would have liked more background on the presidents.

Start your visit to DC with the bike tour. Amy, our guide, shared enough fun facts about all the sites which helped us narrow our selection of places we wanted to visit afterward. Plus, she shared interesting tidbits that we in turn shared and impressed our relatives with later. I did the tour with my two 14 year old sons. We chose the three hour tour which started at 10am. It never felt like a 7-8 mile ride so if it's hot/humid in DC, you'll be glad you had a bike. Paths were mostly flat.
You can leave your backpack at their location and just put your valuables and camera in the little canvas bag they give you to attach to front of bike. I never had a cliff bar and they gave us one at the mid-point for a snack. Actually quite good!
No traffic worries and plenty of stops for taking pictures

Thanks Megan for the great info and help deciding what biking option was best for our family group. Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend seeing the monuments by bike. It's the best way! We did them all over 4 hours and it was a leisurely pace. Again, thanks for the bikes and to Megan for the info!
