Revelation Range Circuit - Lake Clark National Park

Are you ready for a backpacking trip in one of North America’s most remote mountain ranges? There are many under-explored places in Alaska, and then there are places that remain almost completely unexplored.
Are you ready for a backpacking trip in one of North America’s most remote mountain ranges? There are many under-explored places in Alaska, and then there are places that remain almost completely unexplored. The Revelation Range is one such place, a mountain range so rugged and remote that it has been avoided by all but an intrepid few. It is home to some of the world's tallest granite walls, is likely to have seen only a handful of mountaineering parties, and fewer successful ascents. This is the quintessential alpine playground for those who thrive on visiting truly remote and beautiful mountain ranges.

After a night in Port Alsworth, the gateway to Lake Clark National Park and the Revelations, our adventure will begin with a one hour float plane flight to a small lake on the west side of the range. Our pilot will drop us off at a small lake in the center of the magical highlands that define the western edge of the Revelations. We will spend the next week exploring drainages, glaciers, ridges, and cirques, and will likely make an ascent of a lesser non-technical peak in the area as we gaze forlornly at mountains with names like The Angel, The Apocalypse, Golgatha and Babel Tower. The backpacking in the Revelations is second to none in Alaska. The views are astounding, the mountains breathtaking, the wildlife abundant, and the route finding straightforward.

Alaska Alpine Adventures is the only company guiding backpacking trips into this part of Alaska, and we have been leading adventures into the Revelations since 2000. Our experience in this part of Alaska is unparalleled and we are assuring that you will come away from this adventure as a knowledgeable and skilled wilderness explorer, never again to be bound to the trails and sidewalks that make some wilderness areas seem so artificial.
Day 1: Anchorage to Port Alsworth
Today you’ll fly from Anchorage to Port Alsworth – one of the most stunning bush flights in Alaska. After meeting your guide, you’ll check into our lakeside lodge on Lake Clark, spend the afternoon hiking to Tanalian Falls, and finish the evening with an orientation/welcome dinner at the lodge. Lunch & Dinner included
Day 2: Lake Clark National Park
After a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge, you’ll board an early morning floatplane bound for the Revelations! This hour-long flight will take you along the western edge of the Alaska and Aleutian Ranges and right through the heart of Lake Clark National Park. Our pilot will then drop the us off at a small alpine lake on the west side of the massive escarpment of the Revelations where we’ll set up camp and go for an afternoon hike. All meals included.
Day 3 - 9: Alaska Range
We’ll spend the next seven days exploring this magnificent portion of the Alaska Range. From stunning glaciers, wide open tundra, cascading waterfalls, and outrageously high peaks, our exact route changes from year to year. Why? This is simply because there is so much country to explore. Regardless of the exact route chosen, we’ll certainly visit some of our absolute favorite places. All meals included.
Day 10: Port Alsworth
After a leisurely morning, we’ll pack up our gear, and await the arrival of our floatplane. We’ll return to Port Alsworth on Lake Clark by early afternoon. After showers and a celebratory lunch, we’ll tally up our wildlife sightings, and revel in the adventure that we will never forget. We’ll then pay an afternoon visit to the Lake Clark National Park visitor’s center where you’ll have a chance to purchase maps and postcards. You’ll then board an afternoon charter flight to Anchorage. If you are departing Alaska on this day, please schedule all homebound flights for after 9PM.
