Floating Market - Hua Hin Explorer

A couple of hours south of Bangkok lies a fertile lowland with a network of canals, orchards and a huge forest reserve – a tranquil land and lifestyle that is an important facet of Thailand that most visitors never see.
Seventy kilometers south-west of Bangkok the Mae Klong River spreads into a sprawling delta before reaching the Gulf of Thailand. This low-lying land is extremely fertile and over the years an extensive network of canals have been built to aid irrigation. We ride from the reservoir source of many of these canals  as well as along them  during our exploration of south-west part of Thailand. Mixing all different kinds of terrain and locations this trip is a great way to see and experience the other side of Thailand.

The first day of this trip is a great introduction to Thailand as we visit one of the more famous floating markets. After getting a chance to have a look around we head through the maze of canals, which make this such a fascinating area, to the start of the bike ride.
The ride will take in many temples, plantations producing all manner of fruits through the back roads to our wonderful small hotel on the canal banks.

On day two of our adventure we really get off the beaten track as we head further south and inland towards the border with Burma. This often missed area on the way to the more well known Hua Hin is a great place to cycle and relax as the roads and trails are virtually traffic free and the scenery is wonderful. Our hotel today is also a secluded hotel nestled deep into hills and provides a tranquil
overnight repose.

Our last day is an excellent ride taking in the Pranburi coast just south of Hua Hin. The ride will give you an insight as to the local industries that abound in this area. Our ride ends around lunchtime today and you can choose to stay in one of the many great hotels or resort in this area, we can transfer you to the more famous neighbour of Hua Hin or you can come back to Bangkok with the team that has supported you throughout the trip – the choice is yours!

This trip is suitable for levels of riders and is an excellent trip for families.
Day 1: Bangkok – Ampawa
We transfer out of Bangkok to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. After discovering the sights and sounds of the floating market, we embark on a long tail boat and cruise through a maze of canals cutting through local villages and various plantations. This eye-opening boat ride offers a glimpse of Thailand of old where local people are going about their daily life with the canal as the focal point. Arriving at Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram you can enjoy the history and beauty of the temple before we mount our bikes and start our ride. We cycle through coconut plantations and fruit orchards. Riding quiet back roads and jeep trails we stop to visit temples, including an unusual one, and appreciate the countryside. Depending on the season, you will see lychee, pomelo, guava and coconuts ripe for picking. Having enjoyed a delicious Thai lunch at a riverside restaurant, we continue cycling on picturesque trails through lush vegetation towards a former timber mill converted into a charming small hotel.
Lodging Chotika Riverfront
Description The water-front wooden house has been renovated into comfortable guestrooms that welcome any visitor wishing to enjoy the charming view of the Meklong River and to get to know the families of the riverfront communities whose daily activities still depend on the natural water source, as in the old days.
Day 2: Ampawa – Kaeng Krachan
After a leisurely breakfast we transfer for approx 1.5 hours to Kaeng Krachan National Park. Thailand’s largest national park, Kaeng Krachan is an excellent place for an adventurous day. We visit the park’s headquarters on the edge of a large reservoir and enjoy the views and cool breezes. We ride along the lake’s shoreline and across an impressive dam before heading inland along trails and quiet country roads. We will stop often in this tranquil area to take in the wonderful views and give you time to take photos. There are some small hills but nothing too strenuous or taxing. The ride will end at our very comfortable, secluded and beautiful resort beside the river set in wonderfully landscaped grounds. Here we have time for a swim or massage before we enjoy a great dinner at the hotel.
Lodging Petchvarin Resort
Description Petchvarin Resort, Phetchaburi a natural resort nearby Kaengkrachan National Park, surrounded with green tropical forest and magnificent hills and river. With a blend of nature, the resort is decorated by wooden Thai style house to accommodate and comfort you like your own residence.
Day 3: Pranburi – Bangkok
We start the day with a short transfer of approx 1.5 hours to our start point, to just outside Hua Hin. On this fascinating ride we pass through fishing villages, past schools, temples and many coconut plantations. We pass along by the coast to Khao Kanok which is a large rock that separates one bay from another and an excellent view point. The ride will end at a local restaurant overlooking the sea and where we will have lunch and a chance to rest before heading to a local resort, back to Hua Hin or Bangkok.

We were having a wonderful time with Ted and Charly and I can only recommend the tour and the whole organization of it. The cycling through the beautiful landscape was superb, perfect choice of the routing, excellent restaurants and food and the accommodation is chosen very carefully. Ted an Charly took really good care of us and we were spoiled with food, drinks and good company throughout the tour. The day trips were manageable and my aunt was extremely pleased that she could make up the speed to her comfort. We really had a great time!

I wanted to let you know that we had a really great time on our cycle tour in Thailand. There are lots of reasons why it was so good. For example, the distances were about right, the countryside was fantastic, the hotels were interesting and different (one was luxurious and the other simpler and therefore more interesting), the food was good, and I could list more things. However, what really made the trip was the friendliness and attitude of the guide and driver. They never once tired of our stupid questions and showed us so much of the real life in the country that it meant we had some nice exercise and brand new insights into what is; for us; a completely different world. All in all, it was great.

It' just a few weeks ago that I enjoyed one of your trips. And from back home I wanted to let you know how much we, me and my boyfriend, enjoyed the trip. It was a unique way to explore the country or at least a very little part of it. A special thanks goes to our Guide, Num. He made this trip extraordinary! Really! I don't know if you know how much difference a guide makes... We had some during our trip to Thailand. Mostly very good, but none of them were like Num! He made us try food we wouldn't have tried without him. He told us so much about country, life and Buddhism. It was gorgeous!! He ordered very different food at any meal-time. Real thai-food not the very often offered european-style - which was great for us! Really it was a trip to remember!
