The famed Haute Route ski...one of the world's most amazing and classic ski tours. In this 8-day European Alps ski odyssey, we traverse spectacular alpine ski terrain from the Mont Blanc massif to the famous Matterhorn in Zermatt. Along the way we stay in comfortable Swiss mountain huts which enables us to carry a light pack weight during the Haute Route.
After meeting in the French alpine town of Chamonix, we spend a day skiing the famed Vallee Blanche back to town while acclimating a bit and getting in some great skiing. The next day we launch off on the Haute Route, spending the next six to seven days ski traversing the heart of the Swiss alps through the Valais region. We finishing up skiing under the Shadow of the Matterhorn.
Our itinerary is flexible and we build in an extra day in case of inclement weather which can also be ued for some post-tour skiing in Zermatt.
Along the Haute Route we enjoy some exciting ski mountaineering challenges and stellar ski descents, comfortable mountain huts and spectacular scenery. The Haute Route is a classic ski touring accomplishment for any backcounty skier. It is also a perfect first time long multi-day ski tour for those with some backcountry ski touring experience.
The Haute route ski tour is led by IAG owner and AMGA certifed ski mountaineering and IFMGA/UIAGM internationally certified ski mountaineering guide Dave Miller.
