Livingstone's Southern Africa with River Cruise

Witness the wildlife of Southern Africa up close on this 12-day journey! Cruise the remote Chobe River for three days aboard the luxurious Zambezi Queen, witness the magnificence of Victoria Falls on both an exhilarating helicopter flight as well as an elephant back safari.
Explore a little-known part of Africa by land and river on this unique expedition. The banks of the Chobe River boast some of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. From your luxurious suite on the new Zambezi Queen, embark on game-viewing cruises from small boats that allow you to get close to the elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles. Take a helicopter ride high over Victoria Falls — “The Smoke That Thunders” — and a one-of-a-kind elephant- back safari. Then it’s on to Lower Zambezi National Park where you’ll stay in the deluxe Royal Zambezi Lodge. See abundant wildlife and search for wild dogs as expert guides and trackers escort you on day and night game drives, walking safaris or river safaris in traditional African canoes. Join us on a luxurious modern-day expedition through these exotic lands.
Days 1-2: Johannesburg, South Africa
Arrive in Johannesburg on Day 2 and transfer by private car to your deluxe hotel. This evening, get to know your fellow travelers and Travcoa Travel Director at a festive cocktail reception and welcome dinner.
Lodging D’Oreale Hotel

Days 3-5: Chobe River Cruise, Botswana
The great Chobe River divides Namibia’s Caprivi Strip from Botswana’s Chobe National Park, and the river’s exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. After boarding your home for the next three nights — the luxurious Zambezi Queen — embark on the first of many game-viewing cruises from small boats that allow you to get close to the elephants, crocodiles and hippos that call the river home. When you’re not on safari, take a dip in the pool, enjoy a relaxing siesta, tour a local village by canoe or even do some fishing.
Lodging Zambezi Queen
Description There can be few natural wonders as synonymous with Africa’s raw wilderness as the great Chobe River. These waters divide Namibia’s Caprivi Strip from Botswana’s Chobe National Park, and its exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. Teeming with life, this National Park sprawls across some 11,000 m of lush African bush, and is home to the largest populace of elephants in the world – currently estimated at roughly 120 000. Along with the elephants, prides of leopard and lion, huge groups of buffalo, waterbuck, roan, eland, sable, giraffe, and, if you are lucky, one of the rare puku, can also be seen. In the river itself watch out for hippo and crocodile, and keep your binoculars at the ready for spotting a rich selection of bird life. It is on this great expanse of untamed water an adventure unlike any other awaits. Why join he crowds on land-based game drives when you can experience the thrill of it all from your own private suite aboard a luxury 45 meter boat? The Zambezi Queen operates in 5-star opulence, and is all about pampering, indulgence, and superior comfort. Whether you are dining on our third level restaurant watching the animals gather at the water at dusk, game viewing from one of our private boats, or attempting to land your first tiger fish, our professional team will be on hand to meet your every need.
Days 6-7: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Discover the natural wonders of Victoria Falls, “The Smoke That Thunders,” while on an elephant-back safari. Take a helicopter flight to get a bird’s-eye view of this natural wonder. The Edwardian-style Victoria Falls Hotel, known as “the Grand Dame of the Falls,” is just a few minutes walk from the famous falls using the hotel’s private pathway.
Lodging The Victoria Falls Hotel
Description The Victoria Falls Hotel, popularly known as “the grand old lady of the Falls”, is situated in the Victoria Falls National Park, a world heritage site, and is a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World group. It is one of only three 1S0-accredited hotels in Zimbabwe.
Days 8-12: Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia & Depart for Home
The pristine Lower Zambezi National Park occupies nearly 1,600 square miles of spectacular wilderness and is home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, hippos, zebras and an astonishing array of birdlife. Your luxurious accommodations are at the Royal Zambezi Lodge, located on the bank of the Zambezi River just opposite the famous Mana Pools Reserve in Zimbabwe. While in this stunning setting, embark on game drives, river trips and walking safaris; then return to your luxurious camp for a cocktail at sunset and an intimate, private dinner under the stars.

On Day 11 fly back to Lusaka to catch your flight home (arriving the following day) or on to your next destination.
