Costa Rica | Arenal to Tortuguero

Day 1: San Jose

Airport reception in San José by an Austin-Lehman representative before a short transfer to the charming Hotel Bougainvillea • Dinner on your own (No Meals).

Day 2: Tortuguero National Park/ Kayak

Pick-up at Hotel Bougainvillea • After a flight to Tortuguero, check-in and enjoy breakfast at Evergreen Lodge, your home for the night • Kayak the backwater canals of Tortuguero National Park, experiencing places not accessible by motorboat, and abundant with wildlife, including turtles and manatees • Lunch will be served back at Evergreen lodge, followed by a riverboat tour of more of Costa Rica’s beautiful natural canals • Enjoy dinner and relaxation as you prepare yourself for the next day. (B, L, D).

Day 3: Bird Watching/Casa Turire

This morning will present an opportunity for the early risers to take a bird-watching tour by boat • A late breakfast will be served at Evergreen Lodge, followed by a boat and van transfer to Casa Turire, your home for the night • Enjoy lunch and relax during your transfer as you prepare yourself for an afternoon and evening of leisure on your own at Casa Turire • Dinner will be served at your hotel tonight. (B, L, D).

Day 4: Pacuare River Rafting

Depart Casa Turire after enjoying a fresh breakfast • Prepare yourself for the rafting adventure of a lifetime as you drive to your put-in spot on the Pacuare River. Paddle the exhilarating class III and IV rapids of the Pacuare River as it snakes through a virgin canyon past waterfalls and lush rainforest canopy • National Geographic Magazine calls the Pacuare River one of the top ten river trips in the world • Lunch will be served at the rafting center before your departure to Arenal Observatory Lodge • Stopping at coffee and banana plantations, butterfly gardens, and many other attractions along the way, you will be ready to relax and enjoy the hospitality and amazing cuisine at Arenal Observatory Lodge. Day 5: Arenal National Park Canyoning/ Sky Tram/ Zip Line Tour/Ecotermales Hot Springs

Once again this morning, early risers will have the option to go on a bird-watching tour • After fueling up with breakfast, get ready for a full day of adventure! • Your trip begins with a short drive to the Sky Tram • The aerial tram offers visitors a stunning, incomparable view of Arenal Lake and Arenal Volcano • Sail over the rainforest up to an observation point where you’ll start the Sky Trek zip line • At some points along the way you will be over 40 meters above the treetops • The 3,280 foot long zip line system gives guests an exhilarating ride and an opportunity to enjoy the rain forest with beautiful views • Following your traditional Costa Rican lunch, get ready for the excitement of a canyoning tour! • From the first waterfall you will rappel down from the top into the beautiful and pristine canyon below • The adventure includes five rappels, four of which are along waterfalls and one dry rock face • The perfect end to your busy day will come when you head to the Ecotermales Hot Springs and enjoy dinner and a soak • At The Hot Springs at Ecotermales you can soak in a series of four pools, each one progressively hotter as you get closer to the natural source • ( B, L, D).

Day 6: Arenal Volcano Hike/ Transfer to San Jose

Spend the morning hiking the Arenal Volcano National Park through a well protected secondary forest to see wildlife such as Spider Monkeys, White-throated Capuchins, Howler Monkeys, Toucans, Oropendulas, Black Guans, Crested Guans, Coatis and Collared Peccaries • Learn about key aspects of Arenal Volcano as the hike crosses a still-steaming lava flow • Return to San José’s Hotel Bougainvillea by shuttle for a farewell dinner (B, L, D).

Day 7: San José

Transfer to the international airport for your flights home (B).
