From the Rapids of the Urubamba to the mystical mountains of Machu Picchu, the Land of the Inca begs to be explored.  Hike the ancient Inca Trail to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu.  Watch the sun rise over this magnificent site.  Get your heart racing by rafting the Urubamba River.  Enjoy the fine local cuisine and some of the most luxurious hotels this region has to offer.
Day 1: Lima
Arrive in Lima, the “City of Kings,” and the cultural hub of Peru. You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to the Country Club Lima Hotel. Dinner on your own.

Description Located in the most distinguished residential district of Lima, this luxury hotel is known for its traditional elegance and fine cuisine. Guest rooms feature marble bathrooms and classical and Peruvian colonial artwork from the Osma Museum.
Day 2: Lima
Morning tour of the historic center of Lima, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 • Visit the Paseo de la República, San Martín Square, the Main Square, Government Palace, Basilica Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, City Hall Palace and stroll streets lined with colonial mansions and Moorish-style balconies • After lunch, check out a collection of pre-Colombian artifacts on a visit to the Larco Herrera Museum • Dinner perched over the Pacific at la Rosa Nautica, an unforgettable restaurant located on Pier 4 of the Lima Beach Circuit.

Day 3: Cusco
Morning flight to Cusco, the Inca Empire's capital and oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere • City walking tour of the main square, the Cathedral and the "Korikancha" temple of the sun • Private car to the Sacsayhuaman and Qenqo ruins • Dinner and welcome orientation at the Inkas Grill, renowned for its international Criollo and Nouveau-Andino cuisine and for its location in the heart of Cusco’s Plaza de Armas.

Description This five-star museum hotel was once a 16th century monastery built on the foundations of an Incan palace. At an elevation of 11,024 feet, you’ll appreciate the spacious, oxygen-enriched rooms.
Day 4: Pisac / Indian market
Transfer to Pisac for a morning hike to the region’s mysterious mountainside ruins • Shop an impressive display of handmade textiles and crafts at a local Indian market • Visit a local school to get to know the kids/teachers and to deliver materials, including books, pencils and crayons (which you will have the option to purchase as a “kit” the day before) • Check into the tranquil Rio Sagrado, your home for the next three nights, and enjoy a traditional Peruvian dinner.

Day 5: Moray / Maras Inca Salt Mine
Morning visit to the Chincheros Indian market where you will have the chance to participate in a textile workshop • Bike off-road to the Inca site of Moray • Picnic lunch • Shuttle to Maras and bike to the ancient salt pools and mines known as the “Salinas de Maras” • Dinner at the colorful Huacatay Restaurant.

Day 6:Ollantaytambo / Urubamba River
This morning we’ll explore the ruins of Ollantaytambo • After a safety orientation, raft the Class II & III whitewater of the Urubamba River, conquering the adrenaline-inducing “train station” and “slider” rapids • Savor a traditional barbecue lunch at a local restaurant before planting a tree as a part of the UN’s “Plant for the Planet” campaign (each guest will receive a certificate for their contribution) • Opt for a Paso Fino horseback ride to the remote Andean community of Cachiccata before retiring to your hotel for dinner.

Day 7: Inca Trail / Machu Picchu
Travel two hours by train to Kilometer 104 where we meet the Inca Trail and embark on a cloud forest and subtropical jungle hike to Machu Picchu • Visit the sites of Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna and enjoy lunch at a waterfall before reaching Intipunku, the “Sun Gate” overlooking Machu Picchu • We’ll have time for a short visit before transferring to the upscale El Pueblo Hotel for lodging and dinner.

Day 8: Machu Picchu
Full morning to explore Machu Picchu’s mountaintop ruins with a private guide. Lunch in Machu Picchu. Afternoon train ride in the Vistadome car back to Cusco. Gather for a farewell dinner at the popular La Retama restaurant followed by some lively music and dancing.
