A eight-day safari that takes you in a journey through the beautiful terraced hills that characterise much of Rwanda's landscape while climbing gradually to the base of the spectacular volcanoes of the Virunga range - the five nearest peaks rising high above the verdant countryside.

Gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans, through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga range, is one magical experience that you should't miss. On the other hand, you can either go gorilla tracking again (additional permit required, subject to availability), or choose from one of many options - tracking the endangered golden monkey or trekking to Dian Fossey’s grave and the gorilla cemetery, visiting the local school and community projects supported by the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust, relax on the shores of Lake Kivu, and even take a guided walk to Lake Bulera.

Further, experience the lives of the Batwa Pygmies, walk the Batwa Trail, track gorillas in Nkuringo (which I must say is very challenging due to steep and muddy paths), hike the Muhavura or Gahinga Volcanoes, and take a guided walk in the rainforest. All these challenging activities are not to be missed while in this trip!

Notes:
  • All gorilla permits need to be purchased at the time of booking or a deposit equivalent to 20% of the cost of the safari paid, whichever is higher.
  • Gorilla viewing is subject to availability of permits, which are limited.
  • Any additional gorilla permits required should be purchased when booking.
  • Gorilla permit prices are subject to change without warning.
