DAY 1: Transfer from Arusha, afternoon safari

Early this morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to depart for Tarangire National Park.This evening is spent at Tarangire Safari Lodge which is within the National Park or Migunga Permanent Tented Camp which is located in the village of Mto Wa Mbu.

Built on top of a high bluff with a breathtaking panorama, our lodge is superbly located in Tarangire National Park, providing one of the best views in Africa. Carving out the landscape below the lodge is Tarangire River, a favourite watering place, which attracts impressive numbers and variety of game. The scene unfolds before you while lounging on the outdoor patio, allowing you to appreciate Tarangire's diverse wildlife without ever leaving the lodge.

DAY 2: To Ngorongoro Crater

We leave the Rift Valley escarpment this morning and head up to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Our journey will take two hours. On arrival at the crater rim we descend into the crater for nearly a whole day of game viewing. We enter the crater via the Windy Gap road, which is narrow, steep and twisting as it descends into this natural amphitheatre. Ngorongoro Crater has been called the eighth wonder of the natural world and was designated a World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve. The crater represents only about 3% of the entire Ngorongoro Conservation Area which covers 8,280 sq km. The region contains at least seven extinct volcanoes and has probably one of the most varied terrains in East Africa. The Crater is a very picturesque setting for viewing and photographing wildlife and as the animals are familiar with vehicles, we can get really close to them, giving us an excellent opportunity to study their behaviour. The usual grassland dwelling animals live in the crater: wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, warthogs and the predators include bat-eared foxes, jackals, hyenas, lions and rarely seen cheetahs. With over 30,000 animals, the Ngorongoro Crater can be regarded as a “Garden of Eden”. The 100 sq km caldera is home to the last black rhinos to be found in Tanzania and also has the highest density of lions anywhere in Africa. The rhino population here is carefully protected and they are quite commonly seen. We return to our accommodation in the late afternoon. Please bring some warm clothing as it can be cold.

DAY 3: Lake Manyara National Park

We travel to Lake Manyara National Park where we spend time game viewing in the park. We return in the evening to Arusha (a drive of around 2 ½ hours), where you can relax in Ilboru Safari Lodge.

Harmoniously woven into the surrounding African heritage, Ilboru Safari Lodge rests at the base of the majestic Mt. Meru. Among the banana fields and Maasai tribes, a perfect setting is created for this bungalow “hidden paradise.” This family lodge is run by family Van Beurden a Dutch Tanzania couple. Both have been working in the hotel industry for many years and with their experience they manage to comfort you with an unforgettable friendly and attentive service. Besides managing Ad has been a chef for various hotels and lodges.
