Overview

Book
From Manali in the Kulu Valley, this adventurous trekking holiday in the Indian Himalaya heads west into the mountains of the Pir Panjal, a remote and little-visited area that is home to nomadic Gaddi shepherds during the summer months. Trekking through untouched forest and upland meadows, and including 2 rest days for acclimatisation and exploration, we climb to cross the spectacular Kaliheni Pass (4835m) where the views extend to glaciers and snow-capped peaks in all directions. Beyond this pass, we trek for 3 days in a beautiful hidden valley, losing height steadily en route to the isolated village of Bara Bhangal. From here it's up again, following good shepherds trails to eventually reach the moraine, snow and ice of the Thamser Pass (4750m). Here, we cross the watershed of the Dhaula Dhar range and begin our long descent into the Kangra Valley. Before returning to Delhi, this exceptional holiday makes time for a visit to McLeod Ganj, colourful home of the Dalai Lama. This is the perfect holiday for anyone looking for a challenging trek through a wide variety of scenery well away from the beaten trail and the opportunity to experience first hand, unspoiled Himalayan rural life.

    • Crossing the beautiful and wild Kaliheni and Thamser passes

I have done many treks with you over the years this was by far the most scenic trip I have ever been on & I love the seclusion & feeling of isolation, something which is difficult to achieve in today's busy world. Our guide is the consummate professional in all he does, you feel confident with his skills & leadership qualities & he exudes a calm confidence at all times, I would be surprised if anything flustered him. Great crew - Sherpa, horsemen & cook crew. I cannot fault them in anyway, they are always enthusiastic, helpful & patience with all clients. All involved were a credit to themselves & the company. Why did I choose you? Who else is there to go with, in my experience you are the market leaders in this type of adventure holiday. As always extremely helpful staff in the office.

The trek was physically testing at times, which I expected, but the level of support and organisation exceeded my expectations making the whole event both memorable and enjoyable. I enjoyed the choice of trekking route. My first experience of the Himalayas and I felt as though I got a real sense of the remoteness, scale and majesty of the mountains without having to actually climb them.Trip leader was outstanding both in both his professional ability and his personal demeanor which was unfailingly pleasant and helpful.

Best organised trek I have had the pleasure of being on. Hats off to Rigzin. Well worth looking at from a scenic point of view if you have done a few treks in Nepal. Peaks might not be as high but scenery has a beauty of it's own. 2 great passes and stunning steep sided valleys.

I had a wonderful time and am looking forward to the next one. 10 days being away from 'it all', doing lots of exercise, eating good food and sleeping well does you the world of good. I have already recommended to a number of people.
