Overview

Book
Rafting the Chilko, Chilcotin and Fraser Rivers in British Columbia, Canada is a river rafting experience unmatched in its awesome diversity and stretches of Class IV whitewater. This B.C. river rafting trip begins with a spectacular scenic flight over the glaciated Coast Range into Williams Lake. Our Chilko River adventure winds through lush alpine forests, narrow canyons, high desert plateaus and skyscraping hoodoos, then ends 3,000 vertical feet lower and one week later on the Fraser River, the lifeblood of Canadas largest river system. Our rafting route runs through Lava, Big John and Farwell Canyons and includes the North American continents longest continuous stretch of commercially navigable Class IV whitewater.

This journey of discovery is one of the most ecologically diverse and personally satisfying expeditions found anywhere. Well fly over the towering mountains and massive glaciers of the Coast Range in a small aircraft. After arriving to the beautiful wilderness of Chilko Lake, well float 120 miles on the crystal-clear, then turquoise, then silty-brown waters of this incredible alpine forest-to-desert river system, which drops over 3000 vertical feet. On the last day of our expedition, well fly back to Vancouver, crossing over the 2000-foot canyons of the lower Fraser, and the lakes and mountains of the southern Coast Range. Experiencing such a variety of phenomenal scenery has made guests claim that this eight-day trip was the best of their lives.

Crazy for the River

We were met at Williams Lake by one of our river guides, James, who transported us to Bear Camp at Chilko Lake where we were greeted warmly by the entire team. After a surprise and restful night in Bear Camp we started our adventure on the River. The first night in Bear Camp was a chance to unwind and get to know both our fellow adventurers as well as our guides. The pace of the trip was relaxed yet thrilling. We were fed gourmet meals that you would never expect while camping, were fully prepared for the challenges of each day, and had plenty of time to take in the beauty that surrounded us. Our guides, Brian McCutcheon and James were incredibly knowledgeable, have tremendous experience with this river, and did everything possible to ensure we enjoyed every experience fully. Their encouragement, and fun natured approach helped to make the whole experience far more memorable. The terrain is beautiful. This is an experience you should not pass by!

I don't have one

This was at least my eighth rafting trip, including four in Alaska, and my first experience on a Canadian river with a new operator. The stay at the lodge (two nights) and the five day rafting trip were exceptional. I would go with them or R.O.A.M. any time. Wine tasting of B.C. wines exclusively added to the fun. (This was my first time on a themed trip).
