Overview

Book
Discover a region of natural diversity, cultural riches and laidback vibes on a nine-day jungle jaunt through Costa Rica. Thanks to a longstanding tradition of preserving its natural assets, much of the country’s primary rainforest still stands, opportunities for nature-based adventures are endless and the beaches on both coasts are nothing short of picturesque. Kick back in the rustic beach town of Quepos, explore the steamy cloud forests of Monteverde, and get to know the locals by lending a hand on a rural farmstay near Santa Rosa de Pocosol. Explore the depths of this colourful and vibrant country with plenty of time to make this trip your own.

Highlights

    • San Jose is Costa Rica’s cultural heart. Spend time wandering through the artisan stalls of the main Plaza de la Cultura, with plenty of time to stop for a refresco (smoothie) and to do some people watching.
    • Lend a hand at a farmstay outside of Santa Rosa de Pocosol, and learn some home-cooked recipes and techniques from the locals on a visit to the Juanilama agricultural community.
    • Marvel at the size and stature of the Arenal Volcano on the horizon, perhaps taking a soak and relaxing in La Fortuna’s lava-heated thermal springs.
    • Try to spot the elusive resplendent quetzal when you’re exploring Monteverde’s steamy cloud forests. Better yet, why not consider a jungle zip-line to get high in the sky?
    • With plenty of time to chill out at your own pace, Quepos’ surf vibe is ideal for catching some waves, lazing on the white-sand beaches or hiking the lush trails of Manuel Antonio with your travel pals.

My tour guide, Edgar was exceptional. Not only did he share his knowledge of Costa Rica but he made sure that every group member felt comfortable with their accomadations. He also gave many suggestions for optional activities that allowed for flexibility in addition to the included activities. As a solo traveller, this is my second trip with them and I enjoyed the experience even more than the last trip. If you're looking for a variety of activities such as hiking, snorkeling, beach activities and nature walks than this is your trip! Book it... you won't regret it!

You learn from locals about their culture, habbits, family and views on life...and what you learn is that we are not different at all:) I loved every bit of these trips. This is a really great trip if you unsure if this type of travelling is for you. It's accessible and shorter than other trips. There is a great amount of variety and if you are interested in wildlife at all, this trip is for you!

great wildlife and scenery. Come prepared with stacks of cash as Costa Rica is expensive. Do what you can to minimize time in San José either side of the trip. Don't expect much with the food and once you get out of San José the people are great.

This trip was awesome. However, if you are an introvert be aware that you might have little downtime during this short of a trip. Check the day you are supposed to be in Manuel Antonio for the national park as it is closed on Monday. I would recommend taking binoculars (little ones) to better see some of the wildlife. Try to pay in cash, though cards are accepted, and some shops will give you discounts. I took Keens and wished I took hiking shoes because the grip isn't fantastic with the keens. The Costa Rica experience has little included but tons of optional activities (which, as I've heard, is unusual with "original" trips). Most places accept USD but the exchange rate the stores give you won't be the best. Don't change money at the airport as the official orange taxis accept USD. Good luck and have fun.

This was my first trip but I am so excited to do many more! Everything was just perfect. We saw so much and did so much and I learned a great deal about Costa Rica's beauty and culture. The people were great - the leader, the other people on the trip, and the locals we met. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone - it is an incredible deal, especially for the cost - but it would still be a great deal, even if I paid more!
