Overview

Book
Our new bike traverse of Rajasthan is a medley of sights, sounds and other sensory stimulation, as we ride on backroads from Udaipur to the Taj Mahal in a little over a week. After a backstreets city tour by bike, we take the overnight train from Delhi to Udaipur. Here, in the City of Lakes, we begin with a cycle tour amongst its fabulous landmarks. Then, we set off riding through the rolling Aravali Hills to Kumbhalgarh and the atmospheric lakeside town of Pushkar.

Passing farmers working in the fields and the locals travelling to market by foot and oxcart, we get a true feel for the lifestyle here. Throughout we have the luxury of constant back up from a support vehicle with a mechanic. Arriving at the Pink City' of Jaipur, we have a rest day to visit the famous landmarks including the fabulous Palace of the Winds and the imposing Amer Fort. Continuing our traverse of these majestic lands, we journey to the Sariska National Park where we can have another afternoon off the bikes, as we set off on a game drive in search of the elusive tiger. The next stops on our 2-wheel journey are at the Bharatpur bird reserve and at the former Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri, before a short, final transfer to Agra. Here, we walk from our hotel to make a dawn visit to the peerless Taj Mahal and also visit the very impressive Agra Fort, before transferring back to Delhi. If you are looking for a fun and at times quite frenetic biking adventure that's jam-packed with Indian culture and history, then this is the perfect holiday for you.

This was a great way to see and experience a part of India. The support crew, our guide were so helpful in getting us 'use to' the sights and sounds/smells of India. The amount of cycling each day was just right, though some of the 'back roads' were not quite so 'back road' as we thought, but we still felt safe, this is really a great way to experience a country, the hotels were basic, but safe and comfy and the food was filling :-). All in all a good trip, would recommend it to anyone with a 'basic' fitness level

It was a great holiday indeed and I enjoyed every minute of it. Everything was very well organised and there was a good mixture of cycling and sightseeing. Our guide Promod couldn't have been a better leader. He took care of keeping us happy throughout the whole holiday and he always knew just when to stop for some Chai tea when the going got tough. He was not only a bike leader but also a cultural and nature guide. I enjoyed cycling through the villages and meeting the friendly locals who always surrounded us and our bikes on every stop we had. The food was also delicious. The cycling in itself was challenging but very enjoyable. It went better than I had expected. This was my first organised cycling holiday and I had some apprehension before but everything went smoothly and I was not only satisfied but very pleased with the running of the holiday. I look forward to opt for more cycling holidays in the near future.

Pramod was an excellent tour leader and the mechanic and driver was also very good! They all went above the call of duty to make sure that we all had a wonderful holiday. I really enjoyed the biking portions of the trip and the camraderie of the others on the trip.

All the information provided was excellent and staff provided prompt and comprehensive replies to any queries we had. The tour leader, mechanic and driver were fantastic and went the extra mile to ensure we were all well looked after, gave us good advice regarding hygiene, security, etc, and made our trip very memorable. The daily briefings and maps provided by our leader were clear and helpful. Pramod (leader) was excellent. Everything was really well thought through and he was very informative of the culture and religion of India. Every day provided something new and we learnt a great deal. The cycling was at a comfortable level, allowing us to take in the sites and stop when we saw something of interest. Cycling through the countryside was an amazing experience and allowed us to interact with the locals. The safari and Taj Mahal were probably the most exciting attractions. It was far greater as it was more interactive than we imagined.

The driver and bike mechanic were a wonderful addition to the experience..... The bike mechanic rode with me since I was the slowest. Pramod (guide)......has a wealth of knowledge about the cultural and natural history of the area. He made sure we were well cared for. I look back through my pictures and am amazed at everything we saw in 8 days of traveling. The blend of exercise, history and culture...smaller villages, desert scenery, historical buildings. The way everything was handled on-line was wonderful - no need for snail mail. I particularly like the way I was able to enter details about my insurance and travel plans (airline) and then see them appear in the joining instructions. And to be able to see the invoice....very nice. Great job on the IT end of things!

The trip was outstanding and behond my expectations. One of the best organised holidays I have been on, a little more free time would have been nice but not possible with the itinery. The crew were absolutly fantastic and could not do enough for you. Krishna was a well informed guide and nothing was too much trouble for him he went out of his way to please everyone in the group and give us the cultural experience of a lifetime. I enjoyed everything; the places we visited the local village the countryside. Possible give people an option on some of the trips and extend trip by a day for a little more chilltime we did not get chance to swim or relax due to the full itinery.
