This exploration of the heart of French-speaking North America captures some of the province of Qubecs most stunning and diverse scenery, from grandiose national and provincial parks to charming villages nestled in rolling farmland, never far from the majestic Saint Lawrence River. The tour begins and ends in Qubec City considered the most European city on the continent. You travel north along the Saint Lawrence River, past the farms and hamlets of the Charlevoix region to the fascinating Saguenay Fjord, rich in natural history. An ancient valley more than 60 miles long with steep granite cliffs carved by retreating glaciers, the Saguenay Saint Lawrence Marine Park is a unique ecosystem where the fresh water of the Saguenay River meets the salt water of the Saint Lawrence estuary providing habitat for diverse marine life, including minke and beluga whales, viewed aboard a private boat or from coastal walks.

Returning south, you stop en route at quaint Baie-Saint-Paul, the riverside village full of galleries and local shops. Qubec City, the heart of the province, was founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain as a fur-trading post, and centuries later world-class museums, well-preserved architectural gems, and deep history have made it a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spectacular scenery joined with the excellent French-rooted cuisine and warm hospitality of the Qubecois combine to create a memorable trip, which is much closer to home than it feels.

    • In Baie-Saint-Paul, wander a quaint village and artists colony full of picturesque wooden houses and galleries with your guides, learning about the towns impressive historydating back to the 1600's.
    • Aboard a Zodiac boat, witness minke, beluga, and blue whales breaching during an unforgettable whale watch on the St. Lawrence River.
    • Listen as your guides describe the Grands-Jardins National Park which showcases the beauty of the boreal forest and tundra.

Overall Rating

Our trip to Quebec was a 3 generation private trip and required some adjusting of the itinerary to accommodate all of the ages of our family. Our CW guide was so understanding of the grandmother's limitations as well as the need for the teenagers to have some excitement - and everything in between. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Quebec is lovely - beautiful and clean - a lot like Europe without the jet lag. Food was exceptional. Hotels lovely. Whale watching in Tadoussac was a hit and we apparently had one of the best whale shows of the season. This is our third CW trip and we are already planning the 4th. Never anything but the best experiences!
