Overview

Book
This lodge-based trek follows the legendary 'Everest Trail' from the airstrip at Lukla. Within little more than 2 weeks, this is your chance to visit Everest Basecamp, hike up to the exceptional viewpoint of Kala Patar at sunset and to experience the wonderful mountain scenery of the Khumbu. A memorable flight from Kathmandu to the airstrip at Lukla provides access to an alpine world where the air is crystal clear and colourful prayer flags flutter from the rooftops.

Following the famous 'Everest Trail', we trek to the prosperous village of Namche Bazaar where spend a day resting and acclimatising, before continuing our trek alongside the torrential Imja Khola to the high valley below Everest. During the course of this excellent and relatively easy-paced trek, we visit many delightful Sherpa villages, including the stunningly located Thyangboche with its famous monastery and impressive backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam. Two nights at Dingboche, with an excellent acclimatisation walk to Chukkung are followed by 2 short days to Dughla and then Lobuche. This gives us the best possible preparation for our final trek from Lobuche to Everest Basecamp and means we only have to spend 1 night at Gorak Shep. Providing outrageous mountain views and a wonderful insight into the way of life of the hardy Sherpas, this is the perfect trip for a first visit to Nepal and the Himalayas.

Two friends and I booked this together and it was the trip of a lifetime. KE was great in coordinating our arrivals since we were on different flights and we were very pleased at how smooth everything went with flights, meals and accommodation. The trekking itself was difficult in parts, but the guides emphasised to go at a pace that was comfortable for us. Pasang, Little Pasang, Ang Gelu and Nima were all incredibly helpful and made the experience even more wonderful with all their knowledge and stories. There were some things that were outside of KE's hands, such as the food at Gorak Shep or any grumpiness from another person in the group, but for the most part the food was fine. And the meals back in Kathmandu were wonderful! Really really nice places that we would have never found otherwise. Overall it was one of the most amazing experiences we've ever had and we are so pleased with how it all went. I personally would be happy to use KE in the future for other treks.

Short review - Find an adventure press the book button, go and have the time of your life!!! Longer review - From the moment I picked up the phone and contacted KE about my Nepal trip I couldn’t have been more impressed. Nothing was a problem, Venessa tailored my trip to my needs and it actually worked out cheaper. In Nepal, The KE local guides were friendly, experienced, knowledgeable and throughout my time I felt safe, well managed regarding the acclimatisation to altitude, this was actually positively commented on by other non KE groups who felt they were being rushed and as a consequence suffering sickness. The ‘rest days’ used to acclimatise are tough days, these are testing treks, however the first of these treks took us up into the mountains to our guides village where we had the pleasure of going into their homes and meeting their families, teas all round .. absolute treat !!! The trekking was hard at times but the days are broken up well, accommodation is basic, the food was good and plentiful. The days are warm and the nights freezing, the free equipment hire from KE was a bonus. Bring wet wipes!!!! The hotel in Kathmandu was amazing way beyond what I expected. The KE itinerary and tips regarding the trip were spot on, gave all the info needed re spending money, visa etc .. I’ve no hesitation in recommending KE for your adventure- I’m just looking for my next with them !!!

A exhilarating journey in all respects. Starting with the flight to Lukla, progressing through high rope bridges, stunning views, massive climbs and descents, the final day getting to Base Camp and the journey down to Namche via the High Pass, the whole trip was a succession of highs and lows. The loan of the sleeping bags and jackets was a real boon and saved a lot of expense for us. The accommodation, although basic as we approached higher altitudes, was never below expectations. The food was tasty and plentiful, all freshly prepared for us. Be prepared for some chilly nights though, especially early in the season. We would recommend this trip to anyone without hesitation.

Cannot stop bleating about this trip since returning and have already booked another trip with KE Adventure as a result. The organisation, itinerary, service and value for money was exceptional. From beginning to end, our Sherpa guides were attentive, helpful, polite and kept us really well informed. Although challenging conditions in December, heading to Base Camp over Christmas meant that the routes and tea houses were quiet. At times we had the tails and Mountains to ourselves. In brief, a superb trip with a superb company. Would not take a chance on going with anyone else!

This was my first ever multi-day trek and I was a solo traveller. I had the most incredible time on this trip; from the Sherpa team to the other trekkers it was a first class experience. The knowledge and organisational skills from the Sherpa team really did help make this a memorable experience. I cannot recommend this trip enough. Thanks KE!

For a trip in November take plenty of light warm clothing eg tee shirts and vests, and socks . Tinned meat and fish would be great as a veggie diet has its limitations the higher you go. Believe me ,,, the effort and exertion is very much worth it .
