Overview

Book
The perfect trek for those who wish to avoid the busier trails in the Everest region but still gain stunning views of Everest. Trekking slowly through Sherpa villages and yak pastures we emerge into the stunning Gokyo Valley with its beautiful lakes, and from where we ascend Gokyo Ri for one of the finest views of Everest and surrounding peaks including Cho Oyu in Tibet. From our remote high camp west of Gokyo we prepare for the highlight of the trek, the crossing of the Renjo La. The views of Everest are incredible as we weave our way to the top of the pass at 5400m, before our descent to Mirlung along a rarely trodden trail where we are unlikely to see other trekkers. Undeniably trekking at its best in the Everest region.

Most memorable part of your trip: Probably the day after a tough Renjo La passing - stunning scenery, blue skies, great to have done the tough pass.

A quick note to say how great our trek was! It really was fantastic. We had an excellent group with a good mixture of age, sex and nationality, so that was a real bonus. Our leader Mani Raj Chhetri was outstanding - quiet, unassuming and understated, but completely knew his job and very helpful in supporting all the team members. World Expeditions did themselves proud. Previously I had travelled with another travel company and whilst very good, this time it was Mani who shone out. I also liked the idea of tenting and thought the fixed camps offered an excellent standard of accommodation. So well done. It really was a lovely fortnight and for me personally a really interesting way to see another part of the Himalayas. Last time Base Camp, this time the more scenic and challenging Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La. Having done both trips, Gokyo was pretty special and the walk up the valley is lovely. The Renjo La pass is for those wanting to get off the beaten track, especially in snow and ice conditions, but a really great day in the midst of the Himalayas. By the way, Thame is a lovely town and the walk out to Namche very scenic.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO SO SO SOOOO MUCH for organising a truly life changing expedition!!!! It was totally UNREAL. We had the most amazing weather for the whole 3 weeks I was in Nepal. Your ground staff (Mani - expedition leader, Gopal - serda, Pemba - chef, Lakpa - sherpa, Mik - sherpa, Lok - sherpa and the other porters and kitchen staff) were INCREDIBLE!!!!Mani in particular is such a natural born leader. His calmness, sense of humour, compassion and professionalism are unmatched in almost any situation I've ever been in. He's truly world class.I was fortunate to be on the trek with my father, brother and family friend and we all had a fantastic time. Of course we picked up the standard bugs and things but all worth it for the amazing views of the great himalayan mountain range and of course Everest. Highlight for me was climbing the Gokyo Ri and getting a 360 degree panorama.Congratulations to a well oiled machine. Please pass on my regards to your CEO, management and crew who make it all happen!

I just wanted to provide further feedback from our recent Gokyo and Renjo La trek. This was a fantastic trip, with a wonderful bunch of fellow trekkers and crew. We have nothing but praise for World Expeditions and the staff. Our leader, Tikendra, is an absolute gem. We had absolute faith in our safety under his leadership every moment we were out. We were faced with some challenging conditions on Gokyo Ri and Renjo La due to a heavy snowfall, but this also served to make our trip more special. The World Expedition permanent tents sites are really fantastic - very comfortable. At first I was somewhat disappointed when I found that our expected lodge accommodation at Namche Bazaar was now permanent tents, but seriously, they were as good as, if not better, than lodge accommodation. Personally the trip stretched me to my limit, however, I have no regrets and am thankful for every moment we spent on the trail.I think your trek notes under-rate the walk to Thame and from Thame to Namche. These days were delightful, scenic, and very enjoyable. I would definitely travel with World Expeditions again. Thank you again for the magnificent staff we had in our crew over there.

The afterglow will last for years from the experience of a lifetime! Most memorable part was the view of Everest from Camp at 5,000m. Our Sherpa team did an amazing job and made the whole trip very enjoyable. Would love to trek with them all again! Would absolutely travel with World Expeditions again.

What an amazing and breathtaking (in more ways than one) trek. Words cannot express how brilliant everything about this trek was. Randeep our leader was second to none he made every moment special and shared with us his extensive knowledge and deep love of the area. He united the group and his team so that at the end it was like leaving family, a remarkable young man. The sherpa guides looked after us exceptionally well anticipating our every need, always cheerful and attentive- special thanks to DB. Everything about the trek was extraordinary, the food was fabulous, fresh, plentiful and very nutritious - well done cook. The camping was magical especially High camp - an experience I will never forget - minus 15 degrees at 6.30am watching the sunrise over Everest. The trekking took us to beautiful passes and paths especially on the acclimatisation trips. But the highlight had to be achieving the summit of Gokyo Ri and then crossing the Renjo La pass all in the most perfect weather conditions. I would not hesitate to recommend World Expeditions to anyone considering any expedition and I would particularly recommend this trek. Well done to everyone involved and thank you so much for a trip of a lifetime. UK females aged 62 and 64!

This was the most fantastic trek. Everything about it exceeded expectation. Randeep our leader was superb he clearly loved the Himalayas and readily exchanged knowledge and enthusiasm with us. He had an excellent rapport with his team and our group of 8 trekkers. The Cooks deserve a special mention as the quality and quantity of the meals provided was excellent we were particularly impressed by the fresh produce used. The trek itself was stunning and the highlight was the actual summit of Gokyo Ri followed by the 3 night of wilderness camping. We had perfect weather with magnificent views of Everest. We will never forget our experience and will always be glad we chose to travel with World Expeditions, the whole journey was faultless.

This was a tremendous trip. The scenery spectacular and much quieter than Base Camp. I went with my daughter,it was her first trek, she found it challenging in places, but was not over whelmed and was rewarded with unrivalled views of Everest, Cho Oyu, etc. Bir, our leader, was very informative, friendly and instilled confidence, especially when one of the group became ill and had to be evacuated. The camps were always in great settings, high camp below Renjo La was amazing with views across the valley to Everest. All in all one of the best treks I have been on for both W.E.staff & scenery.

We had the trip of a lifetime. The itinerary is well planned and the walking distances very achievable, the first 8 days we had ample time to acclimatise. There was copious amounts of food and it was very good quality thanks to our wonderful cook Babu Rai. Our leader Bir Singh was amazing supporting all the trekkers through their illnesses and he has a real commitment to the people of Nepal. The views were indescribable and amazing. The permanent tents were very comfortable and sleeping bags very warm. I would definitely recommend this trip and company - the trip exceeded all my expectations.

World Expeditions has a very good reputation in Nepal, and we felt we were given preferential treatment partly because of this and partly because of the mateship between members of our team and the service providers. The team themselves were unfailingly attentive and good natured, and attended our every need and looked after us to an extraordinary extent, besides being happy to chat and joke with us, and to protect us from mishap, and quick to congratulate us on our achievements. They made our trip a joy all round.

This trekking route has spectacular scenery all along the way and the views of Everest are stunning. The route shares the same path as Base Campers until Namche and so sometimes seems quite busy but once you leave Namche the 7 day circular trek to Gokyo its very quiet. The leader gave the group excellent advice and always made a point of checking with each member every morning how they were. The Sherpa porters were very helpful if/when required. The trekking is second to none but you have to be prepared to camp in freezing conditions at high altitude so the trip isn't for the faint hearted! But altogether a most wonderful physical and cultural experience. Highly recommended!

Our trek was 14 days plus 3 days in Kathmandu with World Expeditions. It was so well organized with our guide Tikki and crew looking after us so well. Tikki would not compromise our acclimatization up to Gokyo - it was so important. The changing landscape was amazing. Through pine forests, over raging wild rivers on many suspension bridges, ever changing paths and wow views around every corner. Our first view of Everest took us by surprise but pretty soon it dominated the horizon. The barren moraine at Gokyo looked like a moonscape with many cairns along the shore. The walk up Renjo La was tough but we made it ok joining many other trekkers at the top to take our photos of Everest et al. Our highlight was breakfast at high camp in the sun at minus 12 degrees looking at Everest above us. An amazing beautiful country and definitely a memorable adventure. Great group and weather were two other pluses.

I joined World Expeditions for my first trekking holiday in Nepal and had such an amazing experience! Firstly, the sales staff had a good chat with me about my interests and recommended the Gokyo & Renjo La trip to get me off the well-trodden Everest Base Camp trail and it was the perfect trip for me. Once I hit the ground in Kathmandu, the operations of the trip, service, staff, food, ran like clockwork and I was super impressed. I would have no hesitations recommending travel with World Expeditions and especially to try a different trail to the very popular Base Camp trail.
