Overview

Book
This shorter section of the Colorado River is a good trial for folks not sure they are ready for a longer Grand Canyon rafting trip. We meet you in Las Vegas and transport you by van and small plane to Bar 10 Ranch for an afternoon of Arizona ranch activities including horseback riding, horseshoe pitching, hiking and skeet shooting finished with an evening of country entertainment. The next morning, you fly by helicopter into the Grand Canyon where your rafting guides await your arrival at Whitmore Wash. We'll cross the shattered Hurricane fault zone before heading west into the final majesty of the Lower Grand Canyon. This Grand Canyon rafting trip on the Colorado River provides excellent opportunities to hike and explore this exquisite desert wonderland. Several beautiful side canyons invite you to linger in spring-fed streams. Your Grand Canyon adventure ends with a jet boat ride across Lake Mead from where we return to Las Vegas by van.

This trip is a good introduction to the canyon for those who dont have the time for a longer trip or are making this their first experience to get their feet wet. The trip begins with a flight from Las Vegas to one of Arizonas oldest working cattle ranches, Bar 10 Ranch. Located on the northern rim of the Grand Canyon, the ranch offers many activities including horseback riding, skeet shooting, hiking, ATV and more. The next day you fly into the canyon by helicopter and board the boats. This stretch of the Colorado offers broader, more open views of the Grand Canyon and contains relatively modest rapids compared to the giants upstream, but still provides fun whitewater. We float through spectacular scenery in the Hurricane fault zone before heading west into the final majesty of the Lower Granite Gorge. On the last morning youll board a jet boat to take you past the Grand Wash Cliffs and on to Lake Mead.

A wonderful experience all the way around. The guides were amazing. They were fun, knowledgeable, experienced, patient and fun-loving with the kids, great cooks, and worked tirelessly to make sure we had a great experience. Sleeping under the stars was wonderful. The helicopter ride down to the canyon was amazing. The rapids were not super intense, and it is a good intro to whitewater rafting. Seeing the Canyon this way was by far the best. Special shout out and thanks to Corey, Sean and Curtis who made such a huge impact on our kids.

We had a wonderful time and made some new friends. Our guides were amazing: Trip Leader Chelsea, and Guides Jason, Ned and Cory, and Support Boaters Joe, Astrid and Connor were extremely competent, knowledgeable, high energy, fun and hilarious. They took such great care of the group, anticipating needs and wants and meeting them quickly. I would request this crew again! We felt safe, well attended and cared for. It is terrific being around folks who clearly love their jobs!

The white- bag souvenir winner

I've rafted with OARS in CA and now Grand Canyon. I always have a really great time but I have to say the Grand Canyon crew was far and away my favorite. The diverse personalities make for a great team and an entertaining and fun experience. One thing they all have in common though is the drive to meet and exceed their guest's expectations. From the food served to the entertainment at camp to going out of their way to accommodate special needs (even if I forgot to mention it on their forms! oops!) every single guide demonstrated complete courtesy and professionalism. I have, and will continue to, recommend this company to my family and friends for a truly safe, adventurous experience. A fantastic value! Special shout out to Jason for being our devoted, kind and considerate guide through every aspect of the trip, Chelsea for the fantastic expertise of the Colorado River, Ryan for making me garlic-free toast with the spaghetti, Ned for the singing and guitar, and Corey for dunking me repeatedly. Completely safely, of course! And thanks to every one of you for putting up with my obnoxious self! At least you didn't roll your eyes out loud! Haha!

Bar 10 ranch was a great way to ease you our of the comfort zone - great staff, awesome location, great food and fun for all levels. The Helicopter ride in was brilliant, great views and a little excitement...then drop down into the canyon! 3 days on the river were just fantastic, don't expect hotel service or pampering...bring an open mind! Our guide leader Ruth-Anne was exceptional as was her team of guides. They engaged, educated and ensured lots of fun in a very safe environment. Roughing it in style....attention to hygiene bordered on obsessive but very welcome. The food was imaginative and excellent given the basic cooking conditions and sleeping under the stars (not in our tent) was an unexpected treat. We saw waterfalls, caves, cliff jumped, ran rapids, swam in the river, had more inter-raft water fights than I can remember. We ate, sang, slept, laughed and had sad goodbyes. If you want a different experience you must try this 100% it is awesome. One final shout out to April, she assisted the guides at all times, gave good information when running hikes, always had a smile and a bucket of water to hand and made us laugh...good luck girl!

The crew was fantastic and the accommodations were very good. It is hard to believe that they provide the quality of service they do considering they have to bring everything with them on the rafts. The food was great, the activities, while a little on the light side, were very good. We had several really nice hikes and a couple of adventurous activities. All in all, this was a really fantastic trip. Well worth it.

Everything about or trip was just superb. The Bar 10 Ranch was loads of fun and the people were really nice. We went horseback riding, skeet shooting and rode ATVs all in one day! The helicopter ride into the Canyon was a real treat. Although the flight is short, I'll never forget dropping down into the Canyon and flying over the Colorado River. The OARS staff were all super nice and really knew their stuff. The rafting was alot of fun and the river guides really showcased their expertise in taking us through the rapids. The food was great and the staff even baked me a big birthday brownie (be sure to list birthdays, etc, on your trip forms). The Grand Canyon itself was just amazing and at night the stargazing was phenomenal. Truly, I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this trip and how impressed we were with OARS in general. We just got back two days ago and are already dreaming of our next OARS adventure.

From our Adventure Consultant to the River Guides and everything in between, OARS just wowed us. Our Adventure Consultant made selecting our trip and signing up super easy. She continued to communicate with us right up to the day we left. She was always quick with answers to all my questions. The Bar 10 Ranch was lots of fun. The people there were so nice. And sleeping in a covered wagon was fun. The helicopter ride from the ranch to the canyon floor was one of the highlights of the trip. The River Guides were friendly, skilled, knowledgeable about the area, excellent chefs and had a great sense of humor. I'm not a tent camper, but I have to admit (other than wanting a thicker mat to sleep on) even this was fun. My husband and I did not know what to expect on this trip. We were totally blown away by everything about it. Thank you OARS for the trip of a life time!!! We're already working up a group of people to do another trip with. :-) WOW!!!
