A simply unbeatable walking holiday, adventure trekking high in the Swiss-Italian Alps with easy climbing to Alpine summits. This fantastic walking and climbing holiday begins with an afternoon of Alpine glacier skills training at the Gandegg Hut above Zermatt, in the shadow of the iconic Matterhorn. The Breithorn (4164m) is our first climbing objective, before trekking the long descent into Italy's picturesque Valle di Gressoney. Walking back up to the lively Gnifetti Refuge, high on the south side of Monte Rosa, sets us up for one of the finest of all trekking days in the Italian Alps, traversing the Lisjoch/Colle del Lys into Switzerland.

Depending on conditions, we will also make the straightforward ascent Ludwigshohe (4342m) before bringing this fantastic high level route to a conclusion with a descent into Zermatt. With an overnight at the Monte Rosa Alpine Hut, a little oasis of green amongst the towering giants of the Swiss-Italian frontier ridge. This was a great mountain experience that if anything is undersold in the brochure. The trip had a superb variety of alpine trekking and serious mountain terrain. The highlight was undoubtedly the descent on the Thursday to the new Monta Rosa hut. You do need to be fairly fit and you do need to be well used to your boots. I would also advise anyone to keep their weight down. We were lucky to have a great guide who has well as knowing her stuff kept everyone's spirits up and was empathetic with all of the group.

I went on this trip to with my son and his mate to celebrate his 40th birthday. I didn't know what to expect. The guides were great friendly and helpful but very professional, safety being very high on the agenda. Glazier walking is a unique experience. The weather was exceptionally warm which meant the top surfaces were soft making it very difficult to walk on and increased the possibility of cerac collapse it certainly concerned the guides who were cautious resulting in us only summiting twice. We had two drop into crevasses up to their waist, roped up and not a problem as they were immediately extracted. Apparently it's only an issue if you go in over your head. The views were spectacular. I coped well enough with the altitude which before the trip I was concerned about, only one person struggled the first couple of days but seemed to get better as the trip went on. The huts were good, sleeping accommodation was basic and the food was put on the table and you eat it but on the whole tasty and filling. I found staff at the huts friendly and helpful . All in all a great adventure.

Head guide, an excellent professional. A special thanks to the other guide for his calm and reassuring professionalism also. What I most enjoyed? Being amongst the high hills and the descent down the Grenz Gletcher was particularly spectacular. Also the final days walk was extraordinary in the amount and variety of Alpine flowers that we passed along the way, a great many, never seen before by ourselves and from a gardeners point of view. A great itinerary, and stunning situations.

I cannot think of another comment to make other than as usual "Excellent" service!! An absolutely awesome trip that met all my expectations. It helped having two great trip leaders & 2 teams who got on well, which is always key to an enjoyable trip and of course the 5 peaks we climbed which was awesome. Maybe make it a longer trip, didn't want to come home!

The guides were very professional and although they made the trip fun, they were also very safety conscious. It was my first time using crampons and ice axe and I had so much fun. The views were breathtaking despite poor weather on a couple of days. The sense of achievement will stay with me longer than our warm weather holiday we are about to take.

I am constantly judged and scored on my performance every day, so it is difficult not to be disappointed. I had come with a wish list of aims and objectives and for once not only were all of these met but resoundingly exceeded. The excellent leadership of the guides added to this experience, together with a great group who pulled and worked well together.

Very helpful info in the dossier and staff helped select the trip that best met my aims. This was a trip in varied terrain, mainly at high altitude. Food in high level huts was only average (but plentiful) but we only expect plain food there. Accommodation was generally very good, especially in the Italian huts. The pace of the trip was very good - moderate pace and steady progress. Excellent guiding and leadership from both Paul and Bruce. Both were very ready to answer questions regarding technique, difficulty or route and deal with any concerns. Both happy to offer help where required - but fortunately did not happen often. I achieved my aim - first ascent of 4000m peaks and learned basics of alpine techniques. A great experience. The Italian huts have a really good atmosphere and are very comfortable.

All admin couldn't have been better. I also booked an extra 3 days to help acclimatise. My hotel was booked through you with no problems. Your staff gave me options for my 3 solo walks. Excellent ideas to get me started. Kathy (our leader) was great. I also thought Tim (our second leader) was excellent. I think both took us to what we thought were our limits and then got us to do a bit more. I felt very safe and found them both to be approachable and very knowledgeable. I have been on 3 Alpine trips before and this was the one on which I achieved most. The scenery was unbelievable. I enjoyed going beyond my comfort zone and doing the uncomfortable things e.g .ridge between Breithorn and Breithorn Central. The crevasse crossings on the Grenz Glacier had me feeling fully alive. Watching the guides at work in a difficult situation was inspiring. The desserts in the Rifugio Guglielmina were amazing.
