Embark on an adventure through Nepal and India, from the rich wildlife of the Himalayan foothills, across to the sacred River Ganges via the birthplace of Buddha. At key destinations between Kathmandu and Delhi witness pilgrims in Varanasi and visit the magnificent Taj Mahal of Agra. An adventure that will bring all your senses alive, this overland trip through Nepal and India is an incredible way to see the very best of the region.

Highlights

    • Rise in the cool half-light of dawn and watch the sunrise while you glide over the River Ganges on a small riverboat
    • Spend an evening ‘glamping’ in a cool and comfortable permanent tented camp in Orchha
    • Stay in a riverside lodge and wake to the calls of the jungle in Chitwan National Park, then embark on a jeep or canoe safari (season depending) in search of rhino, deer, monkeys and a wide array of bird life
    • Learn to whip up some central Indian staples during a cooking demonstration at home with our friends in Orchha, the perfect opportunity to experience an authentic slice of Indian family life
    • Join pilgrims during a visit to the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, where evidence of a shrine dated before 550 BC was uncovered in 2013
    • Bigger and more beautiful than any photo can capture, the Taj Mahal is a triumph of Mughal architecture that promises to inspire even the weariest travellers
    • Enjoy a relaxing evening at a community homestay in the Madi Valley, a lush valley bordered by forest and river
    • Explore the extravagant red sandstone, marble courtyards and throne rooms of Agra Fort
    • Be overwhelmed by the lively ghats, funeral processions, wafts of smoke and the sound of chanting and prayer while you explore Varanasi

An incredible cultural experience that had a great balance of adventure, spiritual/religious feel and great sight seeing. Jetu was very nice with all of us and laughed and had a good time. He was very helpful when any of us had questions or concerns and helped arranged things when needed. He could have spent more time with us however during our free time, offering to participate on activities with us. I understand that dinners we had could be more expensive, but I wish Jetu would have had more dinners with us or spend more chill time. Jetu made me feel safe and comfortable and he was easy to talk to and would always answer all my questions. It would have been nice if he would ask us all how we were feeling each day, what we felt after seeing the various things we were viewing. Overall though, I was happy to have a guide who was kind, a nice sense of humour and kept us happy and safe throughout the trip.
