Everything about this trip, from start to finish, was excellent....apart from the weather, which was bad in parts............but in no way did that spoil the trip. Our guide and all the drivers were excellent and informative, the organisation ran smoothly, the accommodation was very good throughout (the homestay was a real experience) and the food throughout was very good with plenty of choice for all tastes. In terms of the trekking. The scenery was brilliant throughout and the walking would suit most reasonably fit people. One thing to note is that, even though the season had just started, Plitvice and Krka were very busy (especially Krka................I would advise avoiding the main season. Additionally, the flowers in May are amazing and the flora in general is at it's greenest. Give this trek a try, you won't be disappointed.

What a fabulous introduction to the mountains and lakes of Croatia. We were met by our smiling guide Hrvoje at Zagreb airport, then transported to our first hotel were everything was ready for us to check-in, and the same smoothness happened at all our other hotels throughout the week. The itinerary followed was as stated in the KE Trip notes, with all transport connection perfectly timed. All the lakes we visited were spectacular, in particular the lakes and waterfalls at Plitvice, and although rather busy, not as busy as those at the Krka National Park. The one slight disappointing thing about our trip was the day in Velebit National Park when we should have walked along a section of the Premuzic Trail. It was a windy and rainy when we arrived at the Zavizan mountain refuge, and our guide said it would be too dangerous and slippery along the trail. Such a pity, although we did spend a few hours wandering around the refuge area. After that disappointment, we buzzed during the two days in Velika Paklenica, with exciting canyon walking on the first day getting up to the home-stay hostel, then reaching 1100 metres (although no views because of rain!!!) on the second day whilst crossing over to the small church of Our Lady of Rujno, our pick-up point. And Mario, the host at the home-stay, was such a fabulous character, entertaining us in the evening with his singing and accordion. And the food during the trip, outstanding, plentiful, along with the smiling happy staff that serve

A wonderfully varied holiday from which I will treasure memories of thyme and sage clad mountains, beautiful historical coastal towns, beech woodland, waterfalls, lakes and glorious limestone canyons. The walking sometimes involved a bit of scree scrambling! I would recommend taking sturdy boots and poles. Some of our group found the pace a little fast for enjoying and photographing the scenery: a little negotiation maybe required! The accommodation was always welcoming and comfortable. I even had a dip in the outdoor swimming pool at one hotel and a dip in the clear waters of the Adriatic just metres away from another. I recommend a head torch for the overnight stay in the mountain homestead... stargazing in the dark was truly amazing, but the torch came in handy for a night visit to the toilet across the yard! Our guide was very familiar with our footpaths and organised transport, luggage transfers and hotel check-ins seamlessly. Food was plentiful and varied. An invitation to choose picnic supplies was always proffered and I have to say I have now tasted the best goats cheese ever! A great holiday!

The hotels are small and provide good local food. The walking is very varied with the first and last walks in popular areas possibly rather crowded. The other days are in beautiful remote areas. Your guide may be shy and needs prompting to provide a full service.

We really enjoyed the trip. The guide was very amiable although he did lose us once. He was inclined to walk with the faster people in the group and sometimes lost touch with those at the back. Very varied itinerary which kept our interest high every day. Some unexpected scenery and paths through some spectacular scenery.

We had a lovely guide, Ilyja, and great accommodation throughout this trip. We had a day and a half of torrential rain so missed one of the walks. Some of the National Parks are more touristy than others but overall a beautiful country and a good combination of mixing walking with exploring.

Being used to the camping style of trekking this was a luxurious change, we often chuckled and grinned at the contrast to previous trips. A 4* villa with Adriatic sea views, mountain lodges and modern hotels within Roman ruins , this trip had it all and that is before I mention the natural wonders seen and the food.
