Overview

Book
This 2-day Colorado River rafting trip through Westwater Canyon, named The Wests Best Short Whitewater Trip by National Geographic, includes numerous exciting Class III and IV rapids. Experience the thrilling adventure of Little Dolores, Funnel Falls, the infamous Skull Rapid and ever-popular Sock-It-To-Me. Traveling through this canyon offers incredible views of a Precambrian time-capsule with geologic formations of nearly two-billion year old black Vishnu Schist and pink Zoroaster Granite topped by red-gold sandstone. A spacious sandy beach campsite will welcome guests for a night of delicious food, camaraderie and relaxation before retiring for the night under a blanket of a million stars.

Named The Wests Best Short Whitewater Trip by National Geographic, a Westwater Canyon rafting trip should not be missed. This canyon was formed by a section of the Colorado River slicing through the beautiful red, black, and gold landscape of the remote Utah wilderness. As the canyon walls narrow, the rapids become closer together and more exciting; there are numerous Class III and IV rapids, including the infamous Skull Rapid. In-between the rapids, youll have a chance to explore Native American petroglyphs and outlaw hideouts which are scattered throughout the isolated canyon.

Highlights

    • Thrilling Class III- IV rapids on the Colorado River through deep canyon walls
    • Raft Funnel Falls, Skull Rapid and Sock-it-to-Me
    • Hike to petroglyphs, a prospectors cabin or Butch Cassidy's hideout

Besty

Pete, Jeff and Deano were our guides and were professional, but kept things loose enough that we had many laughs both on the raft and in camp. Pro: Whitewater was more intense than I had anticipated; Con: Long stretches of flat river floating. However, plenty of opportunity to swim and take in the stunning scenery during the float times. Food was excellent and plentiful. I would definitely recommend this trip to someone who is looking for a moderate adventure level with incredible scenery.
